These Beginners Spanish workbooks were created to help at-home parents and teachers instill in their children the love for Spanish through fun activities, games, and songs. These are an easy-to-follow guide for teachers and parents to help their little ones learn Spanish.
At the beginning, it is fine to use “Spanglish.” Encourage students to say as many words as they can in Spanish, but do not inhibit their ability to communicate. As students acquire more vocabulary, they will be able to increase the percentage of Spanish vs English used until they can achieve an entire conversation in Spanish. But be patient as this process will take time. Remind yourself that daily practice is needed to learn a language. If you do not use it, you will lose it!
These books are divided into seasons. You can begin teaching any season at any time. Each season will have songs and activities that will help students learn the language through repetition. To access the songs and an explanation of many of our activities, please go to SpanishTeaTime.com and click on PHOTOS/VIDEOS or go to YouTube and type @spanishteatime7799.

CAN MY BABY LEARN SPANISH?
Did you know that children are born with an innate ability to learn every language that they are exposed to? This ability decreases sharply at 7 years old.
Did you know that audio/visual programs do not help children capture the statistical patterns of foreign language? However, a person reading, talking, and interacting with them does.
Did you know that bilingual children that learn a second language from an early age sound like a native in both?
Did you know that bilingual children have better executive function skills that monolingual children?

WHY LEARN A SECOND LANGUAGE?
People who speak multiple languages exercise their brains more effectively as they process information during the act of communication. Studies have shown that becoming bilingual improves the mind's executive function. Children who can speak two languages are also better at:
  • Planning
  • Solving problems
  • Concentrating
  • Multitasking
These benefits are usually reflected in improved test scores. Students who study foreign languages generally perform better on standardized tests such as the American College Test (ACT) and the SAT verbal sections. These test scores improve more the long students spend learning a second language.
Bilingual children also receive a boost in creativity. And people who speak more than one language are considered more attractive to prospective employers, especially in the modern global economy. These employees are often paid significantly more than people who only speak one language.
